Methodology
Official rate — the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe interbank mid-rate, sourced via ZimPriceCheck. Parallel market rates are indicative street rates collected from public market trackers; we show the reported maximum, minimum and cash premiums separately rather than blending them. Bank rates come from the banks' own published boards. Cross rates (ZAR, GBP, EUR and others) use international mid-market data, and diaspora conversions are derived by combining them with the official USD/ZiG rate.
Every source is scraped on a 30-minute cycle. Failed scrapes are retried and logged; a source whose data is older than 24 hours is flagged on the homepage with a Stale badge, and the most recent good value remains visible rather than being silently dropped. Historic charts use daily averages.
Why trust this data?
We never hand-edit live numbers: corrections happen only through the audited manual-entry log, every figure links back to its source, and our timestamps are shown in Harare time on every page. The full dataset is also available through our free public API so you can verify anything you see on the site.
