What is ZimRate?
ZimRate is a free, real-time exchange rate aggregator built for Zimbabweans. We pull USD/ZiG rates from official, black market, and banking sources every 30 minutes and display them in one place — no account required, no paywalls.
Whether you're converting USD for groceries, tracking the parallel market, or comparing bank rates before a transaction, ZimRate gives you the full picture.
ZiG vs ZWG — What's the Difference?
They are the same currency. ZiG (Zimbabwe Gold) is the common name used in everyday conversation, while ZWG is the official ISO 4217 currency code. Zimbabwe Gold was introduced in April 2024, replacing the ZWL (Zimbabwe Dollar) as the country's domestic currency, backed by gold and foreign currency reserves.
How Often Are Rates Updated?
Rates are fetched and updated every 30 minutes from all active sources. The "Last Updated" timestamp on the homepage shows when the most recent update occurred. You can also refresh manually at any time.
Is ZimRate Free?
Yes,and it will stay free. We cover running costs through small display advertisements and affiliate partnerships with remittance services. We never sell your data and we don't require an account to use the site.
